A Guide to Angel Numbers and What They Mean

Have you ever looked at your phone only to discover the time is exactly 11:11? Or perhaps you noticed your favorite song is two minutes and twenty-two seconds long, and moments later ordered a cup of coffee that totaled $2.22?

These are referred to as angel numbers. In the metaphysical realms where practitioners such as myself operate, there are no coincidences (in fact, I coined this term's acronym — TANC — back in 2019, and it's become somewhat of a catchphrase in my work). Angel numbers are the perfect example of this TANC phenomenon.

You can find references to angel numbers all over Instagram, Witchtok (and Astrologytok and Manifestationtok, for that matter). So what do they mean? What do they tell us? And how can we work with them? Let's dive in!

What are angel numbers?

Within the field of numerology, angel numbers are sequences of numbers (usually with three numbers or more) that have repetition (such as 4444 or 111) or designs (such as 321 and 8787).

While they might appear in the most mundane of locations, the numbers often draw our attention and, even for just a few seconds -- create feelings of amazement.

The reason we're fascinated by these patterns, however, is because of the extension of their significance. The belief is that these numbers convey messages from the spirit world that provide wisdom, insight, and guidance.

Whether you assign them to angels, guides, ancestors, spirits, or simply a higher state of your own consciousness, angel numbers can confirm you're on the right path, shed invaluable insight on a complicated situation, or even illuminate the powerful, mystical meaning behind recurring themes you experience throughout your life.Believe it or not, the power and significance of repeating integers has actually been around for hundreds of years.

The ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras was a brilliant mathematician, but — in addition to inventing unique quantitative solutions — Pythagoras believed that our reality is a physical manifestation of the energetic vibration of numbers.

A few thousand years later, an author called Doreen Virtue published numerous works in the 2000s that dealt with "angel numbers," creating the phrase and studying the different spiritual messages baked into numbers.

In the last two decades, the concept is taking the metaphysical world to the forefront. It doesn't matter if it is believed that the angels send you hyper-specific messages or unconscious is talking to you about your awareness. Angel numbers have made an impression on our minds.

What makes angel numbers special?

The main reason that angel numbers are different from other spiritual methods is that they aren't tied to your birth details. In contrast to the zodiac sign, astrology birth charts, or the calculation of your life's numerology according to numerology, Angel Numbers aren't determined by your birth date, date of birth, or birth location.

Although the zodiac signs' traits can help you identify your personality traits and provide insights into your preferences, likes, or desires, Angel numbers do not reveal your identity or even how you're moving around the world.

One of the most important characteristics of angels is they are highly fluid. You could be accompanied by an angel's number for a long time or have an angel number only as a one-time occurrence.

There's no distinction in how you experience this mysterious signature (in other words, a long-lasting relationship isn't as significant as an observation that's only once). The primary thing to remember is you're paying attention.

Naturally, as with everything else that is part of the realm of metaphysical reality (astrology or tarot, palm reading, etc. ), Numerology is subjective.

Part of what makes angel numbers so magical is that they appear in ordinary places. Angel numbers show up on clocks, timestamps, and alarms.

They appear in addresses, phone numbers, and license plates. Angel numbers may appear in receipts, price tags, and travel itineraries. You could chalk this up to frequency illusion or consider TANC: The reason angel numbers appear in the most mundane environments is that the spiritual universe is intentionally offering a gentle reminder that you're moving through something greater than any day-to-day circumstance could ever express.

You're on a mission. There's a reason. In particular, when the road ahead is unclear and uncertain and the presence that an angel's number could be like a warm hug. To take a quote from Kris Jenner (who may or could be the angelic guardian from Calabasas, California), angel numbers' appearance can be described as a way of telling you, "you're doing great, you're doing great!"

What do angel numbers mean?

One of my favorite aspects of angel numbers is their personal meaning. For example, one person may see "333" as a sign they're on the right track, whereas someone else may experience "333" as a validation of intuition. When you observe an angel number, I recommend stopping, grabbing a pen and paper (or the notes app on your phone), and jotting down whatever thoughts, ideas, or impressions come to mind.

In this way, you'll be able to build a special relationship with the angel number, and whenever it appears, later on, you've already identified what this sequence is to you.

In numerology, many different numerological numbers carry different meanings. As you build your connection to angel numbers, you'll be able to use the profound spiritual interpretations of numbers to learn the significance of specific patterns.

000 and 0000

Zero is associated with new opportunities. This could signify a fresh start when you witness zero in a sequence (either within a set of three, four, or within a pattern).

You're at the beginning of a new cycle, which means you can create whatever your heart desires. Don't be afraid to make big, bold decisions at this point in your journey.

1111 or 111

A powerful symbolic image. Suppose you see one of the angel numbers (either in a sequence of three or four or in an arrangement).

In that case, you should take advantage of the opportunity to wish for a blessing and set a goal or even plant a seed since this is believed by many to be a sign of the presence of a "greenlight" in the Universe.

You have incredible help from your guides, angels, or ancestors. So you are at a point where the future and the present are in constant motion.

222 or 2222

Two suggest balance, trust, and alignment. Experiencing two in a sequence (either within a set of three, four, or within a pattern) could mean that someone — either in the physical or spiritual domain — is helping you get where you need to go—seeing twos could indicate that it's an excellent time to reach out to your most trusted companion to see if divine collaboration is possible.

333 or 3333

Three is a signification of magnetic imagination. The presence of 3 as an angel numeral (either within a sequence of three or four or within patterns) could indicate that you can apply your unique skills and skills to a particular scenario.

Furthermore, the presence of three suggests that by tapping into your inherent talents, you will find greater value and prosperity in any situation you face. Your creativity is essential!

444 or 4444

Four symbolize stabilization. When you see the number four in an Angel Number (either within a sequence of three or four or within patterns), you're engaged in getting grounded, rooted and establishing an infrastructure designed to last.

When dealing with four, do not be afraid to solicit help, particularly when dealing with long-term projects requiring specialized skills. Essentially, it's about building trust and confidence to help you reach new highs.

555 or 5555

Five's presence suggests that big changes could be coming soon. If you've felt stuck and stifled or simply not feeling invigorated, seeing the angel numbers of five (either within a sequence of three or four or in patterns) indicates that major shifts could be on the horizon.

At present, these changes might be taking place behind the scenes; that is to say, important decision makers are contemplating their options. However, having five appears as an angelic number, which suggests you're on the right road.

666 or 6666

Though some might fear six (especially when it is the form of a triplet) due to religious affiliations to the Devil or demons within angel numbers, the number 6 (either in a set of three or four or in the pattern) is calming compassion, understanding, and sympathetic nature.

Six can be an encouraging and necessary reminder to be kind to yourself and respect. There are times when things might not always go as planned; however, when you have angel number six on your side, you'll know you can decide how you will interpret the situation, and remember that every event has a purpose.

Seven is as lucky in angel numbers as it is at the casino! Experiencing seven as an angel number (either within a set of three, four, or within a pattern) means that good fortune — especially finance-wise — could be on the way.

Short-term gigs may become lucrative, consistent income streams, so integrating your spirituality with your values is the perfect expression of this energy.

888 or 8888

Highly sacred numerals in numerology are 8, and looking at this number in the form of one of the numbers associated with angels (either within a sequence comprising three or four or in the pattern) may indicate an underlying connection to the spiritual world in a significant way.

People who believe in an afterlife consider eights to mean supernatural help from loved ones who have passed across.

The fundamental reason for this is that eight represents infinity, the infinite loop that extends beyond the boundaries of any one existence. So don't be afraid to plunge into your intuition whenever this angelic number pops up.

999 or 9999

The final digit of numerology nine signifies that a chapter might be nearing the conclusion. Seeing 9 as an angelic number (either in a group of three or four or within the pattern) signifies that a meaningful cycle is about to end, and soon you'll begin a new adventure.
